The Jolliff Family

Lots of pictures from our days at home. We worked a 300 piece puzzle in about 24 hours.  So much fun!  I'm going to need to pull another one out for this week.  The flowers are blooming and are so beautiful.  I don't know what these flowers are but they open up during the day and close at night.  I just love them.  The twins are working on site words and did a fun activity of writing them with water over chalk.  They enjoyed it!  I treated myself to a house plant.  It's a snake plant and is apparently easy to take care of which is good because I'm not good with house plants, typically!  Abigail playing with her brothers' army men.  We had an unexpected rain last Saturday and the sound of the rain, plus the sound of kids playing made for a relaxing Saturday morning.  Paw Patrol boy. They put on a show for me.  Jacob was the trainer and the two pups did tricks. ...

On Friday we hit the 50 day mark of lockdown and I was feeling creative, so I put together an easy 50's themed lunch for us to enjoy.  I'm thankful that I had some construction paper and glue to do some table decor.  The kids were laughing at the records under the plates and liked the Elvis signed guitar!  Everyone enjoyed a coke treat for lunch, too.  We can't get beef very easily, so we made homemade corndogs and French fries for our diner lunch!  Andrew thought this corndog looked like Elvis' hair!  haha.  We also had some milkshakes with whipped cream topping all while listening to some fun 50's music!  We went outside and had a fun game of limbo.  Overall, Jacob is the winner.  He was amazing! Such a fun 50's day and we are still rocking out to the 50's music this week, too!

It's been beautiful here in the evening and we are enjoying being outside.  I spent an afternoon cleaning out the craft closet and realized we had lots of paints.  We also have lots of rocks in the yard, so the kids enjoyed painting rocks.  It's fun to see them all together, encouraging each other, and having fun doing a simple activity.

It's funny that this is titled "One Month Celebration" as we are in fact, 6 weeks into this corona-thing.    However, I wanted to remember this sweet day two weeks ago that we celebrated one month of lockdown. A lot of life I happening around this kitchen table.  I never would have imagined that outside life would grind to a halt yet inside life would flourish, in some ways, better than before.  We are eating more dinners together, coloring more pictures together, doing school work together, enjoying board games together all around this kitchen table.   I'm grateful! For our one month celebration I made Southern corn bread with honey, drumsticks, green beans, and a bundt cake.    After dinner, I surprised the kids with "Student of the Month" certificates for each of them.  It sounds corny but they were really excited and thought it was fun! Jacob received the "Most Eager to do Time4Learning" award for the month of March. ...
