Andrew is 1 today!! It is hard to believe that 1 year ago tonight we were meeting our sweet baby for the 1st time. Getting to know his features, his temperament, his preferences, all about him. He is a blessing to our lives everyday, with his smiles and babbling. Here is the birthday boy himself!!! We are enjoying being able to watch Andrew and Sam grow in love towards eachother. Andrew just adores his big brother and Sam seems to be the main source of giggles for Andrew. Andrew has taken four steps at once, but isn't walking yet. He has seven teeth and seems to be getting another one in. He eats all sorts of table food and is enjoying his whole milk. He still nurses twice a day, once in the morning and once before bedtime. He has an opinion about things and will let you know (by a scream) if he doesn't get his way. He loves to play with his hippo he can push. He also really likes music. He will bounce up and down while clapping his hands when we listen to music. ...

1. This is a picture of Andrew after lunchtime. As you can see, he seems to like to play with his hair while he eats. His hair is so sticky and he just screams when I clean him up. 2. Sam likes to put this glasses on. These look like my dad's glasses in his senior yearbook picture. 3. We went to Chick Fil A on Monday night and it was family night. Sam had his arm painted for free. He, of course, choose a train. What a silly grin he has!! 4. I'm taking an online class this semester. I am really excited about it and call me a dork, but was thrilled when my books came in the mail:) I was never this excited with nursing school. I also might take a four week photography class, but we'll wait and see. 5. And finally, the boys where so precious today playing with eachother. Sam would chase Andrew and both would just giggle (and so would I). They also spent some time looking outside at the rain. What a blessing!! Happy Wednesday!!

Thanks for being patient with me and my lack of blogging this week. I have had three pressing things I have been working on and that hasn't allowed me any extra time to blog. So, here are some of my favorite pictures from our time in Indonesia. Though we traveled with a tourist visa, our primary goal in our tourism was to share the love of Jesus Christ with those who have never heard of His name. I am still in awe of that statement... never heard of Jesus Christ, but it is true. Hap and I along with the boys on our backs and a national partner headed out to the market to talk with people and to share. We simply where attempting to find common ground and through that share about Jesus. Because the boys where such an attraction to so many, it was difficult to get into a one on one conversation. After our trek to Bukit Lawang, we did laundry and packed up for a journey to Pagaralam. In order to get there , we took a flight from Medan to Jakarta (on another island) and back to Palembang (on the same island as Medan). Once we arrived in Palembang, we loaded up in two vehicles and headed up the mountain for an eight hour drive. Remember the roads I was telling you about, yes we traveled eight hours in that crazy way, only stopping twice. To add to that, Andrew threw up 6 times in the backseat!! It was gross and poor Hap only brought three shirts for the week and Andrew threw up on two of them:) Needless to say, we survived and we'll leave it at that. The hotel we stayed at was set in a tea field. It was in the highlands of Sumatra, so it was cooler during the night time. It is really interesting to watch the people working in the tea fields. While the adults had orientation inside, Sam enjoyed playing outside. We had brought a few toys that Sam played with in the front yard. Their house is fenced in, so Sam played safely. One morning, Hap and Sam played soccer with some of the kids in the street out front. From then on, the kids would yell at the gate "Sam, Sam" for him to come out and play. It was neat to see that Sam could be happy anywhere in this world and easily made friends with the neighbor kids. This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip. I just love how happy Sam looks surrounded by his Indonesian friends. The third day we loaded up in two vehicles and headed to the town of Bukit Lawang. It was about 2 hours away from our "home". The driving and road conditions are crazy. Let me try to describe it, the roads are a similar width as a country road however even though you would think it would only be 2 lanes, it might be 3 lanes at that width. This post is very picture heavy, but since this is my scrapbook I am posting lots of pictures as well as many details. So, look at the pictures or read the text but I hope you enjoy. We headed out for Indonesia on June 29th, Andrew's 11 month birthday. I had to get his picture taken before going to the airport. At the airport, many people from church came out to pray for the trip and to see us off. The Westrum kiddos, who have been to Indonesia themselves, came to provide some wisdom for the boys on how to handle the travel:) The team we travelled with included the four of us as well as Bernard and Eric. Bernard and Eric remained in Indonesia after we left and will be there until the end of July. Sam and Andrew both travelled so well. We are so proud of them.
