Today was a different day than planned because Jacob woke up not feeling well and we were not able to go to the local fellowship.  Hap accomplished some tasks this morning and the rest of us were around the house.  Jacob spent the entire morning like this. My mom and the boys baked some cookies together as Jacob rested. By noon it became apparent that Jacob was really sick as his temperature rose to 103.5 degrees.  We took him to the doctor and he has an ear infection.  After the doctor, he napped while my mom and the boys walked by themselves to a play area close by. This evening ended with Jacob throwing up and story time with grandma in bed. Today wasn't what we planned but it provided lots of cuddle time and play time... that's good medicine for everyone!

This summer, Andrew and Jacob do not have school on Saturday but instead on Friday.  So this morning was a lazy day around the apartment while Hap ran some errands alone.  The boys enjoyed watching "Mickey Mouse" on my mom's kindle this morning... and practically every morning! I can't wrap my head around the fact that this wall was the supporting wall for th...

On Thursday we did a few new and fun things in the area.  We visited the childhood home of the Son and visited a reconstructed old village.  We learned much about Roman culture and the Roman era in the land. The people working at the village were dressed in period costume and working jobs of the period.  They did a specific tour for us since we had children with us.   This man was working on the threshing floor with his donkey and the boys were able to ride behind.  Sam complained that it was dusty, I'm sure it was! We learned about the life of people over 2000 years ago and it was interesting to learn about some of the significance of the parables told by the Son and how they directly related to the life of the villagers. This donkey foal was born just a month ago and his name is barake , meaning blessing. Sam said the donkey foal was his favorite part of the day :) A carpenter in this part of the world would not onl...
