Early.Birthday.Present.

Image
I have been getting everything together for Sam's first birthday. I had all of the plates, napkins, and his present laying out to make sure I had everything. Well, he thought he should receive one of his chunky toys early. He was playing with the school bus in the box and so I decided to get it out and he loved it. We are looking forward to his birthday party and we are still amazed he will be 1 in two weeks!

Sam and I went to the zoo today and it was so much fun. We met Emily and Susan at the zoo with their kiddos. Sam enjoyed looking at the penguins and was pointing at the elephants. It was a nice overcast day and the kids did great. We had a wonderful morning and are so blessed to have such great friends! We look forward to more mornings at the zoo with our friends. (Do you see the walrus?)

Again, we have been so blessed with a great "hand-me-down" A grandmother from church gave us a bike seat for Sam. I had been looking at rummage sales and online to find one and she mentioned it to Hap and of course we said yes. It is barely used and as much as Sam likes to be on the go, we think he is really going to enjoy it. We bought him a helmet that he isn't a fan of, but it fits him good (although it looks huge). We went on a short ride around the neighborhood today but tomorrow I plan on going for a long ride.

Week.in.Review.

Just a few random shots from the last week. Sam is really moving around... it is definately his primary mode of transportation now. It is fun to see him pitter pat around our house. He fills our house with lots of love and laughter. The table picture is my table from the tea on Saturday. We had a great time of fellowship and learning about great women servants from the Bible. Sam is also taking his milk better and down to only two nursings a day! We are on our way:) I will post some video of him walking around here before long... remember I'm still learning the computer!

Moving.On.

Well, the time has come for me to wean Sam. I have to say that I'm ok with it!! I think Sam is having more of a struggle than I. He has been using a sippy cup for a while now and then a bottle when I work, so we are weaning him not only from me but also the bottle. It is pretty sad because he points to the bottles that are drying on the counter and crawls all over me when he wants to nurse. The only good thing about this is that he is enjoying the whole milk that we have introduced to him. So, obviously no pictures of the weaning process :) but some pictures of Sam taking his snack this afternoon of peanut butter crackers and milk!

Happy.Father's.Day.

Hap, Sam and I were able to celebrate Father's Day yesterday evening. We went downtown and enjoyed the Old Spaghetti Factory and walked around the canal while the Jazz Fest was going on! Sam is so blessed to have such a great daddy and I am blessed to have him as well. Today Sam gave us the best gift of all... a two hour nap!! We have enjoyed the day today and a break from studying Greek:) Happy Father's Day

Walking.Video.

Well, I certainly hope that you enjoy this long awaited promised video because it has given me a headache trying to get it on here. The new computer I have is great, but it has lots of fancy stuff that I don't know how to use and I'm up way to late!! Anyway, enjoy... because Sam certainly enjoys walking.

11.Months.

Image
Well, here we are again... another month older! Just like last month, we don't know where the time has gone but we do know that it has been great! Sam is ever changing and ever learning new things that simply amaze us. One day he can't do something and the next day he is a pro at it. He didn't really want to sit still for his picture to be taken today and the only way he would sit still was if his beloved teddy bear was sitting next to him:) I tried to get a video of him walking today. I am trying to post it anyway but the sound isn't working so hopefully before the end of the week is up! He LOVES to walk- he is now talking 10 or so steps, can get up from a sitting position and falls and get right back up to walk:)

Little.Helper.

Image
Sam likes to help clean out the pantry and his pool and the basket with toys and my purse and his diaper bag and the laundry basket and the... He is such a good helper:) On a side note, Hap, Sam and I will be gone the remainder of the week at the Ultimate Youth Camp. So, no more posts this week but look for lots of pictures this weekend!

Feeling.Hot.Hot.Hot.

Image
On the news today they proudly announced that today was the hottest day yet this year. Of course on the hottest day our air went out. We managed but I have to say it was hot and Sam's hair had some curls by the end of the day. We were able to get outside and enjoy the pool and hopefully the air conditioner repair man will be here tomorrow! And what is better on a hot day than a strawberry yogurt smoothie?!

Sam and I set out on an adventure this past week and had a great time doing it!! On Sunday, Sam and I set out for Salem and stayed the night there. Sam was friendly with Great Grandma Rose and let Grandpa Purcell cuddle with him. On Monday morning we set off to visit Sara and Jason in Memphis. He did great on the car rides! Once we were in Memphis, Sam went right to Sara and even cuddled with her. I don't know if he was just desperate to get out of the car or if he just knew how special Sara was to his mom. We went downtown Memphis that evening and had a great time the next day visiting and taking it easy. We headed back on Tuesday to Salem and then Indy on Wednesday. Of course it was a short trip but we had a great time anyway!! My favorite part was probably getting a great Southern Hydrangea:) Enjoy the pictures.
