This summer, Andrew and Jacob do not have school on Saturday but instead on Friday. So this morning was a lazy day around the apartment while Hap ran some errands alone. The boys enjoyed watching "Mickey Mouse" on my mom's kindle this morning... and practically every morning!
Basically cowboy boots go with everything according to Jacob. He put these one by himself and was so proud of himself! The construction hat was an added bonus.
While the boys rested this afternoon, my mom and I headed to a new part of the city. It is outside of the city and while I don't know much about it, being that the 3D movie was not showing today, I do know that this site was only recently uncovered and they are still doing archeological work here. This place is the actual biblical site of the city. David also built his palace here and many harps decorated the area.
I can't wrap my head around the fact that this wall was the supporting wall for the palace of King David. I have read stories about him my entire life in the Bible and it is amazing to see a remnant of his palace.
If you think your toilet seat is cold, what would you think about sitting on this ancient toilet on a cold Middle Eastern morning??
We then walked to the garden.
An old olive tree dating back to the time of the Son.
I would love to be around some day when they ring these bells!
Jasmine is in full bloom here and the smell is lovely.
We walked next door down into a cave that houses the tomb of Mary.
Then on our walk up to our car we saw Absolam's tomb, David's son. It is said that in years past, residents would bring their unruly children to this site to teach them what would become of rebellious children.
We ended the day with the boys at the park and a great visit with a friend.
