For our day off excursion, this morning we went on a hike to a palace that is built in the top of a mountain. Literally, inside of the mountain. This structure is only a short drive for us but after 2 years we are just getting out to enjoy it. This palace was one of the palaces of King Herod and the place of his burial. He built the palace inside the top of the mountain that gives way to sweeping views of the area. It is the highest point in the wilderness and the entire region is viewable from the top, the perfect location for a paranoid, evil king! A view from one side.
