We had some travels last week and internet troubles when we got back home but even though I wasn't posting, it doesn't mean I wasn't thankful ;)

Hap and I had the opportunity to visit with some great folks from all across Illinois and it was such an encouragement. I loved what the preacher said, "Are we more concerned about the sin or the salvation of the person." That was very convicting for me and something that I will be pondering as we return back overseas. I'm thankful for the fellowships represented and the support they offer us and I'm thankful for the reminder of God's grace in my own life.

Today we enjoyed a precious visit with sweet friends from overseas. Abu and Em Ben were more than supervisors to us, they were our support system, our encouragement, our mentors, and we developed a deep friendship. I have so much respect for them. They spent an overnight with us and it was fun for the kids to see them again and it was fun for us to catch up. I could listen to their stories for hours. I'm thankful for their example and their friendship to our family.

This is totally small but I'm so thankful for a Kitchen Aid mixer in this home. I love this mixer and don't know what I would do without it living overseas and am glad to be able to use it to bake here, too!

Hap headed to Texas on Saturday and I am thankful for a carefree day with the kids. It's always good to have a day to work around the house and enjoy them. It was beautiful outside, so we also enjoyed being outside. That evening, we decided that we would put up the Christmas tree. I am typically a not-before-Thanksgiving type of person, maybe I still am, but given that this year we will be gone the weekend before, on Thanksgiving day, and the three weekends after Thanksgiving it felt like it was the right time to do it. We didn't have many decorations but it turned out lovely and the kids had fun.

I am thankful for one more day to enjoy fall before winter arrives. It has been so refreshing to be here this fall and think it will carry me for the next few years. I'm thankful for my book, the weather, and the sounds of the kids playing!

We went to my parent's on Sunday afternoon and I'm so thankful for my parents. I'm thankful for the way they invest in the kids, the way they support and encourage Hap and I, and the way that we can have fun by just being together at their house.
I'm also thankful that the kids and I arrived home safely after the snow that arrived. Had I known that that school would have been cancelled, I would have stayed an extra night at my parent's but we didn't so I drove super slowly and carefully home.
