Back to yesterday!
We started the day off with the boys opening birthday presents from my mom. It worked out well for them to have the gifts for the car ride.
Then we headed to the lowest place on earth... and maybe the hottest :)
My mom was brave and rode the camel with the boys. The facial expressions are priceless here!!
Ahhh... that's a better picture!
The man who was "driving" the camel was funny and really patient.
We then headed to one of the sites of Matthew 3:13-17. We all put our hands in the river.
Hap has been wanting to visit this site and I am glad that it worked out.
The site was so quiet and peaceful. I liked this site and could imagine over 2000 years ago the events taking place at this site.
Then we headed to another location up the river, a more popular spot to visit.
It also was beautiful. The water was a clear, green with lots of beautiful plants and flowers. I had never been to either site, so this was a treat.
Then we went to the Matthew 5:1-12 site. We have been here numerous times and every time it is more beautiful. It isn't the site that is so important but the event. I love to think of Jesus retreating to the hills around the sea and teaching to masses of people.
We had never noticed the mosiacs outside of the church before.
Love these guys!!
We headed to the hotel and swam in the pool for a few hours. I didn't take any pictures. After cleaning up, we continued a grandparent tradition of eating at McDonalds for our evening meal.
We walked along the boardwalk around the Old City, running off any extra energy.
The boys played for a while at this big sail boat towards the end of the boardwalk.
The boys ended our time with a dance party in some grass before crashing hard in the hotel room.
We woke up this morning to this beautiful view from our window for another day of seeing the sites of the area.
