The Big Ugly Burger

Image
This is basically a post about Hap eating... ALOT!  Warning, this could cause you to feel sick to your stomach!  Last night we had a double date with Ben and Amanda to Bub's Pub- Home of the Big Ugly Burger.  The place was packed, so during our wait we headed to the hospital to visit Chris, Robyn and their new baby boy Aiden.  He is precious and has a great head of hair! Ben and Amanda have been wanting to take us to Bub's so that they could witness Hap eat a 1 pound, after cooking, cheeseburger.  Those who accomplish this task get their picture on the wall.  So, in true Hap style he ordered the burger and started in!  The thing is massive and apparently the bun itself is soaked in a stick of butter.   10 minutes in and he is going strong.  However, he wasn't much for dinner conversation because the  burger left his mouth pretty full!  He paused long enough to smile for a picture but not long enough to swallow the mass ...

Minor League Game!

Image
As part of the "Summer in the Son" emphasis at church, a group of around 90 fellow members headed to the Indian's baseball game last night.  I thought I was going to melt the first hour of the game but it turned out to be a beautiful, fun-filled evening! Sam played with his friends most of the time, while Andrew meandered around looking for willing church members to give him food!  Sam enjoyed his first taste of cotton candy.  Some kids next to us had it and we went on the hunt to find it.  We bought the last bag!  My attempt at a brother picture.:) Pastor Skip was among those attending and decided to teach Sam how to wear his hat properly!  Sam thought this was hilarious, and it was! This morning, Sam could hardly wait to go to school.  He was able to celebrate his birthday at school!  He brought cup cakes, juice and some Toy Story blow out toys for each child.  When he was getting out of the car this morning he said "I'm ready t...

Transition

Image
The pastor has started a new sermon series titled "Life depends on successful, godly Transitions."  It has been powerful, I guess because we are in the middle of lots of transitions in our own lives.  Transition is hard!  He pointed out in his first sermon that something has to end for something to begin, and certainly in our lives we are experiencing the ending of many things but we are looking forward with anticipation to the new beginnings that the Lord has in store for us.  I was reminded of transition sermon series today when I went to check on Andrew during nap time.  We are in the process of transitioning him to share a room with Sam in order to put #3 in the crib.  We have just transitioned him during nap time and plan to start his new night time routine in two weeks.  He has done well and I can only pray that we, too, in the midst of our many transitions can bring honor and glory to the One who is moving us forward! "For I know the ...

July 4th!

Image
Today we enjoyed all of the traditional Independence Day festivities! Eating hamburgers, corn on the cob, baked beans, watermelon, fireworks and friends!  Ben and Amanda came over for dinner and we all enjoyed some classic country to serenade us for dinner.  (Some of us enjoyed it more than others).  After dinner, the little boys took a dip in the pool and the big boys played football while Amanda and I chatted.  It is a perfect night to be outside.  Apparently Ben's first words this morning were something about "I hope they have home made ice cream left."  Thankfully, we did!   I had picked some sparklers and bomb cars up at the store today.  Sam wasn't a big fan, but Andrew was brave enough to hold the sparklers!  The bomb cars were not as explosive as I remember as a child, but enjoyable all the same:)  We finished the night with some reading on the couch.  We won't be staying up for any big fireworks display... way past ou...

July 3rd

Image
We had a wonderful July 3rd!  My parents decided to drive over for the day to visit.  My mom is beginning her two weeks off for the summer and having tomorrow off worked well for my dad.  They also realize in a year they won't be able to drive over and visit us, we are glad they came! After church and lunch, my mom made some homemade chocolate ice cream.  While the ladies did the work, Hap and my dad worked out some theological questions and discussed things much to deep for me!  Once the ice-cream was done, we all enjoyed.  In fact, Hap is still raving about how good is was.  He said in a fake Italian accent that it was "fabulous."  We spent the afternoon outside, complete with playing in the pool and the slip and slide.  My dad had a birthday present for both boys before they left.  Sam understands that a birthday equals presents and was excited to get one!  They received new boots.  Both boys have holes in their boot...
