Twin Talk: 1 Year Old

One year ago we welcomed two of the biggest blessings into our arms and lives! Abigail Louise and Abram Carl have forever changed our family and we are so grateful for them!

I have been a little sentimental over the last few weeks and have been taking time to look back at old blog posts and pictures. This is definitely one of my most favourite pictures from one year ago today! Looking over from the hospital bed and seeing Hap falling so in love with our twins made my heart want to bust out of my chest.

And so today, we celebrate 1 year!

More smiles, more dirty diapers, more cuddles, more sleepless nights, more sweetness, more giggles, more love than we ever could have imagined.

Dearest Abigail. You made my dreams came true when you were born. There truly is something special about having a daughter and I am so glad that God choose your daddy and I to be your parents. You are a giggly and happy little girl. You have really blossomed and for the most part like to smile and interact with everyone you come into contact with. You really love to clap and will clap for your big brothers if you see them or will clap for your little brother when we cheer for him. You have learned to communicate "all done" and "more" with sign language and that has made for less screaming at the dinner table! You are standing on your own and can even squat down and stand back up without support but you have not taken a step yet. That will come, no hurry. You are sleeping much better and usually get up 1x/night to eat, you sleep on your belly. You go to sleep around 7-7:30 and wake up for the day around 6:30. You do prefer to stick close to mommy or daddy during the day when you are playing at home. You are very vocal and talk all the time, though not much we understand. You love to play "peek a boo" by putting a blanket over your head and pulling it off. You are wearing a size 3 diaper and typically 12 month clothes. Abigail, I pray 1 Peter 3:3-4 for you " It is not fancy hair, gold jewelry, or fine clothes that should make you beautiful. No, your beauty should come from inside you, the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. That beauty will never disappear. And it is worth very much to God."

Sweet Abram. I can not imagine loving you any more, yet each day my love for you grows deeper and deeper. You are pure joy and such a perfect addition to our family. You just soak up your kisses from your daddy and I. I love the way you lay your head on my shoulder before going to sleep at night and let me kiss your sweet cheeks while you smile, drifting off to sleep. You are such a happy boy around the house but do not prefer for strangers to talk to you and certainly do not feel up to having strangers hold you most of the time. You love to play with the push toy and watch the "fish" swim on the toy in your crib. However, if we put you down awake you throw everything out of your crib before laying down and going to sleep, it is really funny! You are getting so much stronger and better with walking. Everyday it seems you are going further and further and I think pretty soon you will abandon crawling all together and just walk. You are such a great sleeper, sleeping from 7-7:30pm until 6:30am. And you wake up with a smile on you face. I love the way, when daddy or myself is holding you, and someone talks to you, you tend to get shy and bury your face into our shoulder. You like to wave "hello" and "goodbye" to us. You like to know what your brothers are up to and your sister makes you laugh. You are wearing a size 3 diaper and 12 month clothes. Abram, as you grow and change and become a boy then a young man and then an adult, I pray that you remember Micah 6:8 which says "And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
