Today was the first day of cross country season for the Junior High team. The thing about XC is that the work is put in during the summer months with early morning runs, afternoon runs, track workouts, and hill repeats. All that work starts to become evident during these days when the races start. Jacob woke up feeling excited to get the season started. Abigail work up at 5:48am to fix her hair and get ready for the bus. Abram was pretty nervous as he woke up. 5th grade girls The kids ran their hearts out and did so well for the first meet. Jacob placed 2nd for his team and 3rd overall to help the boys varsity team clutch 1st place for Varsity Boys team. Abigail looked strong and had an overall 4th place finish for the JV girls and placed 2nd for her team. Abram looked blocked it at the beginning but certainly made up for it with a strong ending to finish 1st place in the JV boys race. Let's go Tigers!
On Saturday, Nathan, Heather and Caleb came for a visit. We had an absolutely beautiful day, and we wanted to spend the day outside. Some people had recommended Maymont Park. Maymont is a park that is hundreds of acres with a stone castle and barn, some animals, and lots of space for the boys to run around. Andrew wanted to get his boots wet and Aunt Heather supervised. I am glad we crated more boots! The walk with beautiful and we enjoyed visiting along the way. There was lots of rock climbing... and lots of goats! Jacob and Caleb did a great job riding around in the strollers, but needed some time to stretch too! I love this picture of Nathan and Caleb. Summer flew by, as it always does, and we are looking forward to a great school year! I forgot a group shot because Sam had Senior Sunrise Breakfast on the first day and was up and going to school at 6:30am!
