Make It Monday: Crayons

Today I will show you a cheap and fun project to give as gift's for the children in your life. I decided to make crayons for the kids in Sam's preschool class. It is really easy and I'm sure you did something like this when you where little. Here goes...

Supplies:
Muffin container (mine is Christmas tree shaped)
Labels
Crayons
Gift Bags All you do is take the papers off your crayons and break them into pieces to fit into your muffin tins. Maybe your child will be willing to help you with this step... mine wasn't!!:)

Then, place them in the oven and heat until melted. It took about 12 minutes on 350 degrees. Let me warm you that it stinks while they are melting. Don't say I didn't warn you!
After they have melted, take out of the oven and place in the refrigerator to solidify. Again, this only took abour 15 minutes.

Pop them out and place them in your gift bags. Sam also picked out a fun coloring page to give to each of his friends that he placed in the gift bags. Label and you are done!! Easy and cheap, but fun:)

Elizabeth - you are amazing -- where did you get all this creativity from --- oh I'm sure it was Betty --- I am quite impressed. Maybe all the old ladies at our shop would like to have a personalized crayon. Take care --- I check in often but don't respond often. I still have warm fuzzies from Sam putting his arm around me :)

AJ Early Bird

Today was the first day of cross country season for the Junior High team.  The thing about XC is that the work is put in during the summer months with early morning runs, afternoon runs, track workouts, and hill repeats.  All that work starts to become evident during these days when the races start. Jacob woke up feeling excited to get the season started.  Abigail work up at 5:48am to fix her hair and get ready for the bus.  Abram was pretty nervous as he woke up. 5th grade girls The kids ran their hearts out and did so well for the first meet. Jacob placed 2nd for his team and 3rd overall to help the boys varsity team clutch 1st place for Varsity Boys team.  Abigail looked strong and had an overall 4th place finish for the JV girls and placed 2nd for her team. Abram looked blocked it at the beginning but certainly made up for it with a strong ending to finish 1st place in the JV boys race. Let's go Tigers!

Uncle Nathan, Aunt Heather and Caleb Visit

On Saturday, Nathan, Heather and Caleb came for a visit.  We had an absolutely beautiful day, and we wanted to spend the day outside.  Some people had recommended Maymont Park.  Maymont is a park that is hundreds of acres with a stone castle and barn, some animals, and lots of space for the boys to run around. Andrew wanted to get his boots wet and Aunt Heather supervised.  I am glad we crated more boots! The walk with beautiful and we enjoyed visiting along the way. There was lots of rock climbing... and lots of goats! Jacob and Caleb did a great job riding around in the strollers, but needed some time to stretch too! I love this picture of Nathan and Caleb.  He is such a great daddy and I love to see him with Caleb. Sam enjoyed a cigar at the park too.  (I joke!) The little babies ate some grass. Summer flew by, as it always does, and we are looking forward to a great school year! I forgot a group shot because Sam had Senior Sunrise Breakfast on the first day and was up and going to school at 6:30am!
